The Events and Flowers in May
May is the season of carp streamers swimming in the blue sky and irises floating on the water in bath tubs. And some wisteria blossoms still bloom. And roses are blooming brilliantly under the strong sun shine. Fuji Matsuri (the wisteria festival) is held in Koenji Temple from April 29th to May 5th. The municipal flower is a rose and the Rose Fair is held in Satomi Park when roses are blooming. Koiwa Iris Garden along Edogawa river, Mizumoto Park and Horikiri Iris Garden are popular viewing spots of irises and they have Shobu Matsuri (the iris festival). Moreover, until May 5th, hundreds of carp streamers flying in the sky along Kokubungaw River.
