Heisei Garden in Gyosen Park in Edogawaku Tokyo
Heisei Garden is a beautiful Japanese garden with a large pond lying on
the east of
Gyosen Park in
Edogawaku Tokyo. There is a pond called
Shioiri no Ike in the center of the garden. There is a Japanese style house called Genshinan
on the west of the pond, a rest house called
Tsutsujitei and a hill called
Tsutsujiyama on the north-east, a rest house called
Rinsentei on the south-east on it. Tsutsuji is azaleas in Japanese, so Tsutsujiyama
means a mountain covered with azaleas, so it has many azaleas, in early
summer, they bloom beautifully. And there are many maple trees around Rinsentei,
so it is very beautiful in fall. On the north of Genshinan,
a stream flows to the pond and there is a spring in the beginning of the stream.
The spring is on a stone garden lying on the west of Genshinan, many colorful
leaves decorate them in fall. There are green lawn yard on the south and
a bamboo forest on the south. In the forest, a stone lantern given to Iemitsu
Tokugawa, the third Shougun of Edo Bakufu, stands. Walking on Heisei Garden
is wonderful since the views in it has many faces in every seasons. Why

Cherry blossoms in spring, azaleas and irises in summer, colored leaves
in fall decorate Shioiri no Ike beautifully.
On the north-east side of the pond, there is a rest house on a small hill
and they are covered with colorful azalea blossoms in early summer.
It is the best season to see Rinsentei Rest House in Heisei Garden. Views
are interested that they are painted with both colorful autumn leaves and
monochrome stones.
It is amazing time to stand by a stream in Heisei Garden, there are many
blue irises in summer and colored leaves in fall.

- Heisei Garden in Gyosen Park has great accessibilities from both Narita
and Haneda International Airport.

- From Iwamotocho Station at Akihabara, take Toei Shijuku line bound to Motoyawata and get off Funabori Sta.
- From Tokyo (Otemachi) Sta, take Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nishi-funabashi,
Tsudanuma or Katsutadai, get off Nishi Kasai Sta.
- Take 12 minute walk from Nishi Kasai Sta and take 19 minute walk from Funabori
Sta.
