Otsuka House in Urayasu is a cultural property of Chibaken
Otsuka House is an old house standing beside Sakaigawa River running through
Urayasu City. It has some very unique features when it stands in the residential areas since it has a thatched roof. The gate opens to the river and a cherry tree is planted beside it. Inside the door, there is an earthen floor, fishing nets are on the wall of the room, and dolls on the floor show the life in
Edo Period. A wooden floor room is on the center of the house, next it, there are
two rooms with tatamis, one is large and opens to the back yard, and a
small one has a kotatsu on the floor. It has a loft as the family used
to bring their household goods up there when some floods had happened.
There are seashells scattered on the yard, it used for preventing some
crimes. Visitors could find the life in Edo period when they call on the
house. Otsuka House shows the history, culture and nature of Urayasu, so
it is registered as a cultural property by
Chiba Prefecture. Why don't you visit it?

Otsuka House
- Otsuka House has a great accessibility from both Narita and Haneda International
Airport.
- From Narita International Airport, take JR Sobu-express line, transfer
the line at Nishi-funabashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nakano
or Mitaka, get off Myoden Sta. And also take Keisei-line, transfer the
line at Funabashi to Sobu-Local line, and transfer the line at Nishi-funabashi
to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nakano or Mitaka, get off Urayasu
Sta. It takes minimally 60 minutes from Narita Airport.
- From Haneda International Airport, take Keikyu-line bound to Narita, transfer
the line at Nihonbashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nishifunabashi,
Tsudanuma or Katsutadai, get off Urayasu Sta.
- From Tokyo (Otemachi) Sta, take Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nishi-funabashi,
Tsudanuma or Katsutadai, get off Urayasu Sta.
- From Akihabara Sta, take Sobu line bound to Chiba, Tsudanuma or Nishi Funabashi,
transfer the line at Nishifunabashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro, get off
Urayasu Sta.
- Take 7 minute walk from Urayasu Sta.
