Fushosan Chikoin Enmaji Temple in Kasai Edogwaku
Chikoin is a small temple standing in the residential areas in Higashi
Kasai
Edogawaku near the shore of
Kyu Edogawa River. According to Shinpen Musashi Fudokiko (a geographic guidebook describing
Musashi Province in
Edo period), Chikoin is a branch temple Kinzoji in Kami Imai Village (now Edogawa
3) and it was named Fushosan Enmaji belonging to
Jodoshu and was built in 1573 by Kenyo Koun. The principle image of it is the statue of Amida Nyorai carved by
Gyoki Bosatsu. And a statue of Enma is sitting on beside. Gyoki might passed the areas
when he went to
Shimousa and
Kazusa Province to build
Kokubunji Temples. There are some temples related to Gyoki along
the Route 14 and
Gyokoku Kaido Highway, and
the Ferry at Imai is very close to Higashi Kasai so he might get on the ferry there. Moreover,
Chikoin is one of the temples belonging to
Nagashima Kuwakawa group of
the pilgrimage to Daishi in Kasai. Why don't you visit Fushosan Chikoin Temple?

Fushosan Chikoin Enmaji Temple
- Fushosan Chikoin Enmaji Temple has great accessibilities from both Narita
and Haneda International Airport.
- From Narita International Airport, take Sobu Express Line bound to Tokyo
or Yokosuka and get off at Funabashi Sta, then transfer the line to Sobu
line bound to Nakano or Mitaka ang get off at Motoyawata Sta. Or take Keisei-line
bound to Ueno and get off Keisei Yawata Sta. Both from Motoyawata Sta and

The Sacred Places in Nagashima Kuwakawa in Kasai Daishi
Henshosan Chikoin Temple
It is said that the principle image of it carved by Gyoki Bosatsu.
There are two koshinto towers in this temple.
Nagashima Takajio Castle had been stood on this site.
It was an old temple built in Muromachi period.
