Let's go to see Sakura Blossoms in Ichikawa City by Bicycle!
Japanese is excitingly looking forward to see sakura blossoms start blooming,
so it means that they enjoy spring much. They couldn't wait, they want
to go somewhere to see sakura blossoms. In this page, a sample course for
a bicycle to visit some popular spots for seeing sakura blossoms in Ichikawashi
in one or two days is introduced. The total distance of the course is about
29 kilometers long and it visits not only famous spots such as Nakayama
Hokekyoji Temple, Mamagawa River, Mamasan Guhoji and Satomi Park, but also
Myoshoji Temple, Kozato Park, Manyo Botanical Garden, Shirahata Jinja,
Sakuradote, Ukishima Benzaiten, Tekona Reishindo Temple, Suwada Park, Kokubunji
Temple, Junsaiike Pond Green Zone and Sakura Tsutsumi Park. It is enough
for you to ride on your bicycle in a day, but if you plan to enjoy seeing
sakura blossoms much, you finish at No, 8 at Colton Plaza, and you would
start from Mamagawa River in your second day. Why don't you ride on your
bicycle with spring winds?

The order of these lists are only my ideas since I live in Nakayama area. Therefore, it is free for you where you start. Please keep road etiquette and your health while going on cycling.
Now, this website is 'A Walk In Nakayama Shimousa', so it starts from the
one of the most popular spots for seeing Sakura Blossoms;
Nakayama Hokekyoji Temple.
Nakayama Hokekyoji has over one hundreds of cherry trees in its site, its
gojunoto, the main hall, the niomon gate are on the see of pale pink clouds
of sakura blossoms. And its tacchu temples in its site,
Chisenin,
Kozanji,
Onjuin has some.
Hokekyoji gives you great time. And you go out the parking there, and turn
to the left, and climb up the slope road, so you find
Nakayama Horse Race. Now you are riding on '
Okerakaido'. Next, you reach at cross by the horse race. But it is 6 roads crossed. You could go the road under signboards with Kanji '北藤商店街' seeing in the picture below. Anyway, you could see some cherry blossoms in the parking of the Horse Race on your left.
You go into the second corner of the road and go down the slope. Then you
turn to the left at the first signal and you find
Myoshoji Temple on your right.
Myoshoji is called the temple of Sakura blossoms and it has many sakura
trees in its site. Now, you go back to the slope road and go down to the
road, then you find a signboard (in a picture below) by a path built on
an underdrain.
You go on the path since many sakura trees stand along it, so the path
is dramatically beautiful.
It is for pedestrians, so you ride on it very slow. When you reach at a
highschool gate, you turn to the right and go on the path along the school
fenses. The lined sakura is almost 750 meters long. Now you find
Oogashiwagawa River, then you turn to the right and go along the road along the river by Yamanoshita
Bridge, you turn to the left and go across the bridge and a traffic signal
behind the bridge, finally, you go straight the road, you find two ponds
on your both side. This is
Kozato Park.
The two ponds is laid on the north and the south and both ponds are surrounded
by many cherry trees. And you could see some seafowls there. It is a very
good park to see them for a spring day.
Now you will turn to the left at the north end of the north pond and go
on the road to Ichikawa Ono Station of JR Musashino Line. You turn to the
right a block before the end of the road, and you turn to the left under
a cliff. You find a signboard of 万葉植物園 and a plate written 大野緑地 on the
wall under steps to
Manyo Botanical Garden.
It is dramatically beautiful that the steps are covered with Sakura blossoms
blooming along them.
Musashino Line runs beside the steps, someone who loves trains enjoy taking
photos trains and sakura blossoms. Yama Sakura blooms in the garden.
Anyway, you return to the road that you had come, so you go to Kozato Park
again. You pass by the north road by the north ponds and you turn to the
right at the northeast corner of the pond and you go on the road. When
you find an elementary school on your left, you pass by the school and
turn to the left at the southwest corner of the school, then you soon turn
to the right at the next corner. Then you go across the traffic signal
and go on the road, you could see a hospital on your left and a junior
high school on your right. You go on the hill side road, you find Koenji
famous for a large wisteria tree on your right. And you continue to go
on, you find sakura blossoms on the cliff on your right, that is
Shirahata Jinja.
Shirahata Jinja stands on the cliff and there are many sakura trees along its approach road on the cliff, so visitors could see the blossoms and the skyline of Ichikawashi.
Now you go down the cliff and you go on the road under the stone steps under the approach road, soon you will find sakura blossoms along
Mamagawa River. Mamagawa River is the best spot for seeing sakura blossoms in Ichikawashi.
There is Showa Gakuin School on your right, the lined sakura trees along the river is almost 4 kilometers long from the school to a bridge for Route 14.
If you visit them on two days trip, you will go down the road along the
river and you pass through Keisei Line, Route 14 and JR Sobu Line, finally,
you will reach at
Orihime Jinja in
Colton Plaza Shopping Mall. Orihime Jinja has some sakura trees, it is very pretty. This could be
better to be a goal of the first day for your trip.
Why does anyone who enjoy Two Days Trip have supper at Colton Plaza?
And one who tries One Day Trip turns back to go on the road along Mamagawa
River by Showagakuin School. And you continue to go on the road and you
see Kotsu Koen Park, Ichikawa Sogo Hospital and an elementary school on
your left, then finally, you could find
Sakuradote Park on your left and
Ukishima Benzaiten before.
Now you turn to the right and go across the bridge on the next corner of
Ukishima Benzaiten, and you see an elementary school on your right and
you turn to the left at the next corner, then you find
Tekona Reishindo on your left.
Tekona Reishindo has a drooping cherry tree and some Somei Yoshino Sakura
trees in its site, they have beautiful blossoms in spring.
Now you go on the road again, and you turn to the right and see a stone steps before, you could find
Mamasan Guboji Temple before on the steps.
There are many weeping sakura and Somei Yoshino Sakura trees having beautiful
blossoms in the temple. An over 200 years old weeping sakura tree called
Fushihime Sakura is very popular.
Now you go out of the north gate of Guboji, then you turn to the right,
you could see Chiba University of Commerce on your right, so you go along
the wall of it, you turn to the left at the next corner and turn to the
left again. You find a tunnel by Sakura Blossoms by tennis courts. It is
Sports Center.
You go back the road that you had come, and you turn to the right and turn
to the left at the third corner, then go down the road and turn to the
right soon, next you turn to the left at the third corner. You go straight
and you find
Yoshizawa Garden Gallry on your left. And you turn to the right and soon turn to the left, then
you find
Suwada Park on the top of the slope road.
There are many sakura trees along both of the slope road of the park and
under the park. Of course, it has some in it.
Now you enjoy seeing sakura blossoms there and pass through the park, the
slope road is on the south of it, you go out of it from its north gate.
Then you turn to the left at the gate and you turn to the right at the
next corner. Then you find
Guo Moruo Memorial Park on your left. A few minutes later, you find a hill before and you climb
up the slope road on the hill, finally, you find
Kokubunji Temple on your left.
There is a Kawazu Sakura tree on the left of the red niomon gate of the temple.
When you go to the left after leaving the temple, you find several signboards to go to
the remains of Shimousa Kokubunniji. Please follow them until you reach at it.
It has some sakura trees there.
After you find the remains, you follow the direction of letters '西部公民館 350m'.
When you start at the remains, you find a clock tower on your right. It is a school. So, you go on the road before the school, then you find another school on your left, you reach at a cross, then, you turn to the left. You go on the road and go down the slope, and you find
Junsaiike Green Zone on the right.
Junsaiike Green Zone has many sakura trees along its pond.
Now you go out of the park, you turn to the right and go up the slope road,
then turn to the left at Junsaiike Ryokuchi Iriguchi (a left picture below),
you find a traffic signal of 'Konodai Hospital' (a right picture below).
And you turn to the right, you find
Satomi Park.
Satomi Park is one of the most popular spots for seeing Sakura Blossoms
in Ichikawa City.
After going out of Satomi Park, you turn to the right and go down the slope
road, then you turn to the left at the narrow path along
Edogawa River. You go along the path and go up the bank of the river and you go down
to the flood plain and go to the path on the plain. You pass through Keisei
Line's, the Route 14 and JR Sobu Line's bridge, you find Sakura blossoms
on the bank.
It is Sakura Tsusumi Park and it has many cherry trees on the bank.
