Shinensan Ryozenji Temple was built by Satoro Yoshida (his Buddhist name
'Jien') in 1468 since he deeply believed in the venerable Rennyo, the eighth
generation after Shinran, the founder of Jodo Shinshu.
When Gengozaemon Yoshida, the eighth generation before Sataro, lived in Kamata Shimousa province, the founder Shinran visited him on his way to Kyoto from Hitachi province, and Shinran carved a wooden statue of his image and gave it to Gengozaemon when he left for Kyoto. Now the statue is dedicated in Shinrando Hall at Zentsuji in Kagawa Prefecture.
