Shokakusan Jojuin Kyoshinji Temple
Shokakusan Jojuin Kyoshinji Temple is the 16th and 17th temple of
the 33 Pilgrimage in Gyotoku and Urayasu since the 16th, Shingyoji Temple and the 17th, Kyozenji Temple, were combined
into Kyoshinji Temple. Moreover, it has some wonderful statues related
to Buddhism.

Shokakusan Jojuin Kyoshinji Temple
In
Muromachi period of 1570, Shokakusan Jojuin Kyoshinji Temple was built by the venerable
Enrensha Joyo Junko. It belongs to
Jodo Sect that was founded by the venerable Honen. The statue of Amida Nyorai is
the principle image of the temple.
The History of Shokakusan Jojuin Kyoshinji Temple
For the vast 400 years, Shokakusan Jojuin Kyoshinji Temple has helped
many people with peace and sympathy. The temple was ruined several times
by Tsunamis and some earthquakes, and the main hall and the kitchen of
Shigyoji Temple were burned out in the air raid in January 1945 so it was
ruined. In August 1953, Shingyoji Temple and Kyozenji Temple are merged
into one temple and it was named Kyoshinji Temple.
The Origin of the Temple's Name
「自信教人信 難中転更難 大悲伝普化 真成報仏恩」
(自ら信じ人をして信ぜしむること、難が中に転た更に難し、大悲を伝えて普く化すれば、真成に仏恩を奉ずるなり。)
"It is very difficult to be saved by Amida Buddha and it is more difficult to lead others to enlightenment. But those who try to tell others the teachings of Amida Buddha could get the grace of Buddha since it is the most difficult thing and it is the best thing for people could do. "

The Events and Landmarks of Kyoshinji Temple
There are the statues of Mida Sanzon, Nyoirin Kanzeon Bosatsu, Bato Knazeon
Bosatsu, Kosodate Jizoson, Nyo Toku Hakuryu Benzaiten and the mound of
Hand Copying of Sutras in the temple.
Osegakie (a mass for lost souls) is held at August annually.
Ojuya is held in November annually.
The school of hand copying of sutras, Higan Hoyo (Buddhist services in both equinoctial weeks), and so on are held in.

Shokakusan Kyoshinji Temple
- Kyoshinji Temple has a great accessibility from both Narita and Haneda
International Airport.
- From Narita International Airport, take JR Sobu-express line, transfer
the line at Nishi-funabashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nakano
or Mitaka, get off Myoden Sta. And also take Keisei-line, transfer the
line at Funabashi to Sobu-Local line, and transfer the line at Nishi-funabashi
to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nakano or Mitaka, get off Myoden
Sta. It takes minimally 60 minutes from Narita Airport.
- From Haneda International Airport, take Keikyu-line bound to Narita, transfer
the line at Nihonbashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nishifunabashi,
Tsudanuma or Katsutadai, get off Myoden Sta.
- From Tokyo (Otemachi) Sta, take Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nishi-funabashi,
