Though Shochuzan Shojuin Shogenji Temple stands along Gyotoku Kaido Highway,
it has much green in it, so visitors could feel comfortable winds since
they would forget ordinal urban life. Moreover, Shochuzan Shojuin Shogenji
Temple is the 7th temple of the 33 Pilgrimage in Gyotoku and Urayasu.
Shochuzan Shojuin Shogenji Temple was built in 1444 by the venerable Shogen.
The principle image of this temple is the statue of Amida Nyorai carved
by Gyoki Bosatsu. Almost 500 years had passed after the venerable Shogen passed away, Ieyasu Tokugawa moved to Edo, the venerable Gencho who studied at Shiba at that time tried to enlighten
people in Gyotoku and he named Shochuzan Shojuin Shogenji.
564 years have passed since this temple was built. (2008)

The statue of Benzai Tennyo for Good Luck is the guardian deity of Shogenji Temple.This Benzaiten is said to be carefully carved when Chisho Daishi Enchin had seen a holy dream. The venerable Shogen dedicated it but there are no records that it had never been exhibited. Some said that people might become blind if they see the statue of Benzai Tennyo.
Osegakie (a mass for lost souls) is held in 23rd, the day for celebrating Benzai Tennyo.

Shogyoji Temple has a great accessibility from both Narita and Haneda International
Airport.
From Narita International Airport, take JR Sobu-express line, transfer
the line at Nishi-funabashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nakano
or Mitaka, get off Myoden Sta. And also take Keisei-line, transfer the
line at Funabashi to Sobu-Local line, and transfer the line at Nishi-funabashi
to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nakano or Mitaka, get off Myoden
Sta. It takes minimally 60 minutes from Narita Airport.
From Haneda International Airport, take Keikyu-line bound to Narita, transfer
the line at Nihonbashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nishifunabashi,
Tsudanuma or Katsutadai, get off Myoden Sta.
From Tokyo (Otemachi) Sta, take Tozai line of Tokyo Metro bound to Nishi-funabashi,
Tsudanuma or Katsutadai, get off Myoden Sta.
From Akihabara Sta, take Sobu line bound to Chiba, Tsudanuma or Nishi Funabashi,
transfer the line at Nishifunabashi to Tozai line of Tokyo Metro, get off
Myoden Sta.
